How do I join the APTT?

Within the UK

Anyone can join the APTT! Even if you are not a teacher you can take part and support one of the UK's fastest growing educational movements - and help support the training and development of teachers. If you are a teacher you should join as a FULL member, whilst those not involved in the teaching profession join as ASSOCIATE members. Subscriptions, at the time of writing this page, are set from April to April (but note: this may be varied by decision of the APTT at any time). Institutions, companies and associations may join as CORPORATE members - please enquire with the Secretary for further details.

You can join at any time. Click HERE to go to the Membership Form page where you'll be able to fill in a postal application, or just contact the Secretary at the address shown below for an application form (or click HERE to send an enquiry by email). Local (i.e. North of England) tutors are especially welcomed.

Membership Benefits include:

Contact with other tutors
Help on hundreds of subjects areas from professional tutors, lecturers, facilitators and trainers
Independent advice and guidance
Priority access to all the APTT's free courses
Work towards peer-recognition via award of the post-nominal letters 'MAPTT'
(Member of the Association of Part-Time Tutors)
An entry in the APTT's on-line database - the only independent and publically accessible tutor database in the UK
Design and develop your own course, accredit it and seek funding for it via APTT

A chance to have a voice and make a difference in adult education

etc.

Why not also consider setting up a Branch of the APTT yourself? Local action is much more effective and gives a chance to discuss news, views and problems which are relevant to members. Click HERE to get more information!

Outside the UK

If you're looking at this page from outside the UK then it is unlikely that joining the APTT will be of direct benefit to you at present. But why not start up your own fraternal organisation on the APTT model in your own country?

Remember: it pays to be organised!

We will be happy to give advice to anyone wanting to do this. Feel free also to download our Constitution as a "model" for your own part-timers support group. Don't forget to let us know about any developments in this area! We would be DELIGHTED to hear your news!

You may however wish to have an APTT database entry at this site. This currently costs 20 pounds sterling (we accept internationally negotiable transfers) and is SUBJECT TO AVAILABLE DATABASE SPACE. Of necessity, UK APTT members have priority here. Please E-mail Bob Groves to apply or for further details. Alternatively, snail-mail should be sent to:
