28th February 2001

We were exceptionally lucky to be able to have Professor Frank Coffield of Newcastle University to come along to Wallsend Peoples Centre on Wednesday 28th April to talk on the problems concerning the development of a learning society in Britain, and lifelong learning as a whole. Professor Coffield gave a very inspiring talk which we hope will be the first of an irregular series of free presentations on educational subjects open to to the post-compulsory education community. The event was organised by the APTT. It was supported by Wallsend Peoples Centre (who gave of their premises) and Newcastle University Centre for Lifelong Learning (the talk was focussed around students in the CLL's 'Politics & Philosophy' and 'CES' courses).

The Listeners: 40 people turned up on a rather wintry afternoon.
